Leslie began her volleyball career in middle school as an outside hitter and transitioned to Libero/Defensive Specialist in high school and club volleyball. She played all four years in high school – where as a freshman received the Most Valuable Player award. As a sophomore on the Junior Varsity team she was a team captain and was brought up to play varsity for playoffs helping to lead them to the first varsity volleyball section title in Oak Ridge High School’s history. Leslie played 2 years of varsity ball as a defensive specialist receiving many defensive awards including All League honors 2 years standing, and selection to the All-Star Optimist team.
Throughout Leslie’s club ball experience she competed at a high level as a power league player helping to lead her team to the 2003 Junior Olympics. Recruited by several colleges Leslie decided to not play for a college team to concentrate on the pursuit of a nursing degree. While in college she competed and played on the intramural volleyball league where her teams placed first or second all four years.
Leslie graduated in 2009 from California State University Long Beach with a Bachelors of Science degree in Community Health Education and is continuing her educational pursuit to become a Registered Nurse.
Leslie’s coaching experience began this past fall as the 8th grade volleyball coach for Rolling Hills Middle School. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and loves working with that age group. Leslie believes that it is most important to focus on skills at the younger level because skills are the foundation for upper level volleyball. She also believes that it is important to teach players how to work together as a team.
Leslie is currently employed with Vanderlip and Adams Insurance Agency in Folsom. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog Romo.
