Julie

Julie played Varsity volleyball for Mission Viejo High School in Southern California. She was awarded MVP and All-League honors.  Julie received a four year scholarship to Chapman University (division 2) and earned a MVP award as well as receiving All-League honors.

Julie believes that volleyball at the 12’s level is a combination of team building, skill developing, and competitive play.  All of these help build a player’s character on and off the court.

Her coaching philosophy is that practices are for
learning new concepts, perfecting skills, and physical conditioning.  I expect 100% effort at all practices during drills and shagging for others.  Everyone will be included in all drills during practices, but game situations are different.  The players with highly developed skills earn more play time.  She commits to use subs often, but only when she believes the player is confident in filling the required role.  Everyone is part of the team on the court or on the sideline.

Winning isn’t everything, but it sure is lot more fun than losing.  Julie coaches her teams to strive to play their best and win.  Hard work and dedication at practices results in an exceptional team, bonding mentally and physically.

Julie focuses on the importance that volleyball is a team sport.  We are only as good as our weakest player.  Therefore, each player must push themselves and encourage each other.

Julie asks parents to support your athlete and the team in a positive way.  Be a good listener, supporter, and fan.  It’s about your daughter and the team, not about you.

Julie has been married to her husband Dan for almost three years.  They blended Dan’s four children (12, 14, 16, & 17), Julie’s two children (17 & 19), and a cat.  With five different schools of sports and activities, we are always on the go. She teaches fourth grade at Schnell School in Placerville and has been teaching for a total of fifteen years.  In the fall, she coaches the cross country team. Some of Julie’s favorite things include watching our kids play sports, traveling to Southern California to visit family, working out at the local gym, attending church, and coaching volleyball.
